Effect of formwork rigidity on mold life

The design of the die-casting mold is mainly determined by the shape of the casting. However, mold design and size will have an impact on mold life. First of all, the formwork should have sufficient rigidity. If possible, try not to use the plate structure, but use the overall structure. The same weight of material, but the mold rigidity is much better than the plate structure. Secondly, the concave and convex are added on the movable and fixed mold core as the process positioning, so as to eliminate the error of the upper and lower mold frame guide pillars and guide sleeves, and eliminate the waste products caused by the dislocation of the cavity of the die casting, thereby improving the service life of the mold.

Influence of gating system on mold life

Whether the gating system is properly set or not has a great influence on the life of the mold. First of all, it is necessary to avoid direct impact and erosion of the core by high-speed and high-pressure metal liquid during injection. For example, before the gating system of a die-casting mold is improved, the molten metal enters the cavity through the ingate and directly impacts the fixed mold core, so a large reaction force is generated, which blocks the flow direction of the subsequent molten metal and produces a huge flow Resistance, so that the cavity at the gate is easy to wear, fatigue cracks occur, and corrosion there is accelerated, which eventually leads to the failure of the whole mold and scrap.

Effect of cooling system on mold life

The setting of the die-casting mold cooling system is necessary. It has been proved by practice that adding a cooling system including sliders and sprue sleeves (see Figure 7) and installing cooling devices as much as possible is conducive to improving the quality of castings and the life of molds. Mold temperature has a significant impact on the quality and production efficiency of castings during the production process. Uneven or inappropriate mold temperature will lead to unstable dimensions of castings, difficult ejection of castings and easy deformation, resulting in thermal pressure, mold sticking, surface cold shut, etc. defect.
